Cooking for Family & Guests / Food Stewardship

Hello. I am Claire Bennett. I am eleven, and I teach Junior Academy. Mrs. Hale is our headmistress, but this hour is mine. This is week 15. Today's lesson is Cooking for Family & Guests / Food Stewardship. Sit with me and we will learn it together. Cooking for guests is not a different religion from cooking for Tuesday. It is the same craft with a longer guest list and a calmer host. You ask about allergies before you shop. You choose a menu you have practiced, not an experiment on people you love. Batch cooking — a double soup, a tray of roasted vegetables, a pan of rice — is how a household survives a busy week without cereal for dinner. The pantry is a small store you already own. Stewardship counts it, rotates it, and gathers the fragments so nothing is lost.
