Christian Family Values

Hello. I am Claire Bennett. I am eleven, and I teach Junior Academy. Mrs. Hale is our headmistress, but this hour is mine. This is week 27. Today's lesson is Christian Family Values. Sit with me and we will learn it together. Claire has her Bible open because faith is not a weekend accessory. A Christian family is a small church-in-training: prayer, Scripture, service, and stewardship of time and money. Churches differ — Baptist, Presbyterian, Anglican, nondenominational, and others — and your first job is to learn your own family's church with humility, not to win an argument. People sometimes read Titus 2 or Proverbs 31 as if a godly woman should only keep house and stay small. Read the whole picture. The woman of Proverbs 31 considers a field and buys it. She plans, trades, strengthens her arms, opens her mouth with wisdom, and looks well to her household. Homemaking is leadership. It is not a command to abandon school, skills, safety, or a voice. We honor marriage and motherhood as possible callings. We also honor the God who gave you a mind.
