Faith in the Home & Family Traditions
Hello. I am Claire Bennett. I am eleven, and I teach Junior Academy. Mrs. Hale is our headmistress, but this hour is mine. This is week 28. Today's lesson is Faith in the Home & Family Traditions. Sit with me and we will learn it together. Deuteronomy does not say, 'Hold a perfect family worship once and you are done.' It says talk of God's words when you sit in your house, walk, lie down, and rise up. That is toast and homework and a hymn at the sink. Family worship can be ten honest minutes: a psalm, a prayer, a song, a silence. Holidays carry stories — why we feast, why we fast, why we remember. Recipes are edible memory. The pie your grandmother made is a kind of testimony if you tell the story that goes with it. Traditions are servants. If a tradition steals rest, shames the poor, or hides pain, it needs reforming. You are allowed to keep what is good, leave what is harmful, and plant what is missing.
