Banking, Saving & the Household Budget
Hello. I am Claire Bennett. I am eleven, and I teach Junior Academy. Mrs. Hale is our headmistress, but this hour is mine. This is week 19. Today's lesson is Banking, Saving & the Household Budget. Sit with me and we will learn it together. Adelaide sits with a paycheck and a budget the way a builder sits with a plan. Checking is the everyday river: deposits in, debit card and bills out. Savings is a separate pool you do not swim in for snacks. A paycheck has a story — gross pay, taxes and other withholdings, then net, the number that can actually be spent. A household budget is not a punishment. It is counting the cost so the month is finished on purpose. If a future someone says you are 'too young' or 'too feminine' to understand a bank statement, believe the warning, not the flattery.
